Who we are

We are The Bluebird Word, an online literary journal for poetry and flash writing. Our website address is https://thebluebirdword.com. We use Submittable as our submissions manager software program and utilize a separate third-party email marketing service to send a monthly email newsletter Birds of a Feather.

Cookies

At this time, The Bluebird Word does not solicit comments on published submissions. If this option is later activated and you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. By using the Mailing List form, you may also be opting-in to cookies.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. website links, videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

We do not share your data without your explicit permission. If you opt to correspond with us, we will retain your email address, but we will not share this data with anyone, without your permission, to include any third-party companies. Any information the author includes in her/his/their third-person bio once published becomes publicly available. As of August 2023, we established an electronic newsletter Birds of a Feather and will add your name/email address if you opt-in on our website (through the Mailing List form) or if we have selected your work for publication. As such, your email address will be added to the contact list with our selected marketing email company and web browser. You may unsubscribe from the newsletter by clicking on the link at the bottom of the email or opt-out of this electronic newsletter by sending an official notification to thebluebirdword(at)gmail.com.

How long we retain your data

If you are a published contributor to our website, your work and its metadata are retained indefinitely. If you wish to have your work removed or deleted from our website, please send an official request via Submittable (the current submissions manager software we use) or by emailing thebluebirdword(at)gmail.com.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have published work, you can request to receive a copy of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. By agreeing to use Submittable to submit work to our journal, your data is also housed on that platform. We will only use your data for official purposes directly associated with running this online literary journal.

Where we send your data

Contributors’ work may be checked for plagiarism using an online resource that checks for plagiarism. Any visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
