Poetry by Brian C. Billings
When I first moved here, I thought my
neighbors were alarming. They jetted through the village
on furious missions for meals and mates. Changes
came fast, bewildering my twitchy eyes with color
that spiraled and streamed. I would hide whenever
waterways flashed. I wore shells and allowed tides
to stroke my mantle . . . but now each ripple
makes me flush when brilliant consortiums rush by.
